2024 was a fine year for me, but I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped. Here's what Katey was up to:
Your Shadow
Somehow, this ended up being one of my most evocative works, and I made it in around ~3 days. I did this for Domino jam 7 and it got lots of praise I felt good about. I haven't actually done anything that interesting for Domino in a while - mostly jokey games - so it was nice to make something more creative and interesting.
It's a short visual novel you can read in a single sitting, so I don't have much else to say about it. Take a look at Your Shadow if it interests you.
Paper-Girl-Chain
Another visual novel, this time for menhera jam! I didn't have a lot of confidence in this one, but after getting honorable mention in VNCUP 2, I thought I might as well try another competitive jam... I almost didn't make the deadline due to a slight illness, but with Foto's help, I managed to pull through. Foto once again did music for this, and it came out really well. I really hunkered down and worked on the script so she'd have more time to read it, and I think the result was music that sort of hard carried this game. Anyway - we ended up winning! I'm glad we ended up participating in this, I made some new friends and also strengthened some old bonds. These jams often have a discord attached to share work in progress; I joined but didn't really work up the nerve to post. Oh well. Next time, maybe? I'm trying hard to be a more social person...

Keepsakes
Yet again, another VN! This is... a bit different though. It's... kind of an adult story, although it seems like people enjoyed the atmosphere even without that aspect being in the forefront. It's sort of a test run - I've been writing an actual 18+ story with sex/fucking, and this is kind of an in-between: it's about kink but it doesn't show anything overtly sexual. I haven't put this one on my itch profile because I still have some apprehension about sharing something like this. Still, check out Keepsakes if the description fits your interests...
Refactoring the House
I've totally redone this site! There have been some changes to some pages, but it's mostly minor tweaks - you shouldn't notice much different. Behind the scenes, though, this site is now statically generated with 11ty, which will make adding new pages a lot easier. Originally the main site was just simple html, and this blog was made in Hugo, which meant updating the blog was also annoying. Now everything is streamlined and I only need to run one command to build the entire thing.
Overall I'd recommend 11ty. It's kind of barebones, but that's what makes it good - any features you want to add, you add them yourself. Working with Hugo was a bit of a nightmare due to the horrible templating syntax.
So - expect some new pages in the new year! I already have some ideas for pages I'd like to add and some blog posts I'd like to write. Hopefully those'll be done soon now that it's easier to update this place.
What's next?
Last year I made a bunch of plans for stuff I want to work on in the new year. This year, outside of the aformentioned adult game, I got nothing.
I mean, hey, none of those plans came to fruition anyway. So we'll see what happens!
